Marlaine M.

You can seriously do so much with a birthday session to make it truly unique to who you are and your values, nothing even having to do with throwing confetti, holding onto balloons shaped into numbers, etc.! My close friend Marlaine decided that she’d like to honor her mother and grandmothers by acknowledging how much of a difference they’ve made in her life! She used her favorite photographs of her mother and grandmothers as inspiration.

And I absolutely loved this whole idea more and more as Marlaine filled me in on what all she had in mind for the shoot—and I’ve personally always had a love for looking through old photographs at my own grandmother’s house and seeing her and my mother throughout the years from being my own age to their older age. There’s just something so special about being able to see how our parents and grandparents had their own experiences as young adults and how those events of their youth shaped the kind of life they live presently, and how what they enjoy doing for fun and where they enjoy going is not even much different from what they enjoyed years ago.
